アメリカ・インディアナ州にあるカーメル・クレイ図書館の建物は、大幅なリニューアルのため2年ほど閉鎖中。
その間、蔵書が借りられないのは困るということで、一時的に使われなくなった大型スーパーマーケットを間借りしているそうです。

冷蔵庫の中にも本が並んでいる違和感。冷凍庫には伝記と定期刊行物が置かれています。

3年前までマーチャンツ・スクエア・スーパーマーケットという店舗で、街の中心部にあり、駐車場もあることから、図書館として利用するのに申し分のない条件だったのだとか。
地元住民の評判も高いとのことです。
